Carrier Selection By The Numbers

📊 Simple Supply Chain Model:

🚛 When it comes to evaluating the available trucks on the road today, one question stands out: How significant is the impact of carrier selection on CO2 emissions?

We get this question frequently. We have seen as much as a 30% reduction in emissions from carrier selection. Today we wanted to share a simple model using real data from The Fleet Sustainability Index showing the impacts of carrier selection.

We took 50 Carriers from the lower quartile across the country (yellow sample) and compared them to the Transport Topics Top 50 carriers (green sample) as well as a standard GLEC single emission factor (blue box).

🔢 We input each group's DOT number into The FSI and we are able to get their emission factors. From there we kept the miles delivered consistent across each group to show the impact of changing carriers based on the same route selection (A total of 50,000 miles for each group).

What you will see:

1️⃣ The green sample group shows a 19.67% reduction in emissions compared to the initial Yellow Group.
2️⃣ A reduction of 18,317,820 Grams of CO2
3️⃣ When using the GLEC single emission factor we see a 34% higher estimate when compared to The FSI Score.
